Members’ Contribution Terms

Effective date: 29 October 2026

The Agreement and Its Parties

Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa is a publication operated by HUMAN AFTER ALL, a business registered in Singapore under UEN 53533791D.

These Terms are an agreement between the contributor and HUMAN AFTER ALL as the operator of Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa. References to “we”, “us” and “our” refer to HUMAN AFTER ALL; references to “you” and “the contributor” refer to the person submitting a Members’ Contribution.

Questions about these Terms or a submission may be sent to Wust Dhillon at help@hawwaprana.com

Eligibility

Members’ Contributions are available to eligible Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa members.

Submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa retains complete editorial discretion over whether, when, where and in what form a submission is published.

Original Work

By submitting an article, the contributor confirms that:

  • the submitted work is original or that they otherwise possess all rights necessary to submit it;
  • the submission does not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;
  • any third-party quotations, images, research, data or other material are used with appropriate permission or lawful basis;
  • the contributor has authority to enter into these Terms.

Rights During Editorial Review

Submission does NOT immediately transfer ownership of the article to Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa.

By submitting an article, the contributor grants Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:

  • receive
  • store
  • internally reproduce
  • review
  • proofread
  • fact-check
  • edit
  • annotate
  • assess

the submission solely for the purpose of determining whether it should be accepted for publication.

If the submission is rejected and never accepted for publication, copyright and ownership remain with the contributor.

Copyright Assignment Upon Acceptance

If Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa accepts the article for publication, the contributor agrees that, upon acceptance, they assign to Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa all transferable right, title and interest, including copyright, in the accepted original article and any original contribution materials they own, throughout the world and for the full duration of those rights.

The assignment applies only to rights the contributor actually owns and is legally capable of assigning.

Third-party material incorporated into an article remains subject to the rights of its respective owner.

The exact moment of acceptance is recorded as the effective moment of the copyright assignment.

Editorial Rights After Acceptance

Once a submission has been accepted, Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa may:

  • edit
  • proofread
  • fact-check
  • restructure
  • abridge
  • expand where editorially appropriate
  • adapt
  • format
  • retitle
  • create excerpts
  • create promotional material
  • repurpose
  • reproduce
  • publish
  • republish
  • archive
  • distribute

the accepted article in any media or format used by Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa.

Moral Rights and Editorial Changes

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the contributor consents to the editing, adaptation, formatting, publication and republication described in these Terms and waives applicable moral rights only to the extent a valid written waiver is legally permitted.

Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa nevertheless intends to credit Published contributions using the contributor’s submitted Preferred Author Name.

Attribution

If an accepted article is Published, it will ordinarily display:

By [Preferred Author Name]

and:

MEMBERS’ CONTRIBUTION

Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa may reasonably correct or update attribution where necessary.

The contributor’s Legal Name for Contributor Agreement must remain private unless disclosure is required for legal, payment or administrative reasons.

Rejected Submissions

If a submission is rejected and is never accepted:

  • ownership remains with the contributor
  • no commission is earned
  • Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa must not publish or commercially repurpose the rejected article without separate permission

Internal records necessary to document the submission, agreement or rejection may still be retained where reasonably required.

Accepted but Unpublished Submissions

Acceptance and publication are separate events.

Copyright assignment takes effect upon acceptance.

Commission is NOT earned upon acceptance.

If an accepted article has not yet been Published: no commission has yet been earned; it may be edited, scheduled, assigned to an Issue, or held for future publication. Commission becomes earned only when the article first becomes publicly Published.

Issue Placement

An accepted Members’ Contribution may be added to a currently Published Issue, an upcoming Issue, or a future Issue.

Issue selection and article ordering are determined solely by Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa.

Public Access

Published Members’ Contributions are made available free of charge to all readers.

Members’ Contributions are not Members Only articles.

Commission

The current commission rate is:

US$0.50 per article that is actually Published.

Commission is not earned merely because an article is submitted, reviewed, edited, accepted, or scheduled. It is earned when the accepted article first becomes publicly Published. A rejected or unpublished submission receives no commission.

Commission Rate at Acceptance

When a submission is accepted, the commission rate applicable to that submission is recorded.

Example: accepted_commission_amount = 0.5, accepted_commission_currency = USD.

Future changes to the programme’s standard commission rate must not retroactively reduce the agreed rate attached to an already accepted submission.

Payment Timing

Earned commission is scheduled for payment on the 10th day of the calendar month following publication.

Example: Published in September → commission scheduled for 10 October.

Multiple commissions owed to the same contributor for the same payout period may be combined into a single payout.

A failed or delayed payout does not eliminate a valid earned commission.

Payment Provider

Contributor payouts may be processed through Stripe or another designated payment provider.

Contributors may be required to complete payout-provider identity verification, payout onboarding, banking information and compliance requirements before funds can be transferred.

Where Stripe or another payment provider handles banking information directly, Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa should not store contributors’ full bank account details.

Taxes

Contributors are responsible for their own tax, reporting or similar obligations arising from commission payments, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Published Contributions

Once a contribution has been Published and commission has been earned, later editing, Issue reassignment, archiving, or removal from homepage promotion does not automatically reverse the earned commission.

Withdrawing a Submission

A contributor may withdraw a submission while its status is Submitted, Under Review, or Changes Requested — unless it has already been Accepted.

Withdrawal before Acceptance ends editorial consideration; no copyright assignment occurs and no commission is earned.

Once a submission is Accepted, the copyright assignment has taken effect and the post-acceptance terms apply.

Changes to the Programme

Ḥawwāʾ Prāṇa may prospectively change programme availability, contribution eligibility, submission procedures, commission rates and payout arrangements.

Changes must not retroactively remove commission already earned.

Privacy

The contributor’s Legal Name for Contributor Agreement is stored privately and used only for agreement evidence, contributor administration and payout or compliance purposes where necessary.

It is never displayed publicly beside a Published contribution.

Privacy and personal data enquiries may be directed to the designated Data Protection Officer, Wust Dhillon, at help@hawwaprana.com
